Shania’s Story

Environmental Engineering TfNSW (RMS)

I participated in the 2015 Indigenous Australian Engineering School and Student workshop.

The IAES encouraged me to become more motivated in working towards my future. It was recommended to me by a teacher at my school who thought I possessed similar qualities to an engineer. The program itself was very insightful to the different kinds of engineering and helped me decide the career I wish to pursue.  I am now studying environmental engineering. I would encourage anyone thinking of participating in the summer school to JUST DO IT, as it was so much fun and allowed me to make good friends from all over the country, many of which I am still in contact.

We at Engineering Aid Australia recognise that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People have a spiritual and cultural connection and an inherent right to protect the land, waters, sky and natural resources of their Country and their ongoing cultural and spiritual connections to the lands, waters, seas, skies, and communities.

We acknowledge First Nations Peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the land in which we live, and Lore Keepers of the oldest living culture. We pay respects to their Elders past and present. We extend that respect to all First Nations Peoples
