Connor’s Story

Connor Hughes

In 2019 I was privileged to participate in the Indigenous Australian Engineering schools summer camp. This was an unbelievable experience which truly cemented my passion for becoming an engineer and for this I am incredibly appreciative. At first, I was hesitant as what engineering field I wanted to study at university. Although I left the camp with something most valuable to me, inspiration. Being submerged in an environment of success and in particular, just a taste of Engineering at the networking session inspired me. Come HSC year I utilised this passion to strive towards my goal of becoming an engineer. I am now first year of University, studying a Bachelor of Civil Engineering at the University of Newcastle. It was a true eye-opening experiencing and I recommend anyone with the opportunity to take full advantage.
